Phenotiny

Developed in partnership with Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU), Phenotiny is a lightweight data acquisition device. It is particularly suitable for local experimental fields. The first studies focus on different varieties of wheat and rice.

The mobile platform is a smart assembly of aluminum tubing and electric wheels from the cycle industry. It is designed and manufactured on site by the students of the research center.

The “Instruments” part is directly derived from our standard measuring head. It features 3 LIDAR Sick LMS400, 2 Airphen multispectral cameras, and 2 to 4 Sony high-resolution cameras. Thanks to a 1.5kWh portable tool battery, the system can run at full capacity for more than 6 hours at a time.

Trigger sequences and synchronized acquisitions are controlled with centimeter accuracy using a dual antenna RTK GPS. A reference GPS station, specially designed for this project, delivers the local RTK corrections necessary for the accuracy of the positioning.
