PhenoField – Phenotyping gantry

Located on the ARVALIS experimental phenotyping station, the PhenoField site will help researchers to understand the processes involved when plants have to deal with a water deficit and which is the cause of differences in tolerance between varieties.

Mobiles greenhouses for phenotyping

The PhénoField is equipped with eight mobile greenhouses, or “umbrellas”, which cover a total of 5,000 m². They make it possible to automatically protect the rain experiments and thus to control the periods and the intensities of water deficits applied to the field test plots. Up to 500 micro-plots of maize, wheat and other field crops can be observed very finely each year with a set of sensors that will continuously measure physical growth and plant development. which is called high throughput phenotyping.
